Product Description

This helmet has been designed for SCA heavy combat. It is more than strong enough, it exceeds the strength required of the steel.

Size circumference:690mm (27.25 inches)
Size height: 330mm (13 inches)
Grill width: 29cm (11.5 inches)
Grill height: 20.5cm (8 inches)

Weight:3.5kg
Gauge: 1.9mm average (14 guage - better than 16 guage)

Comes with webbing and chin straps.

Space between bars on cage varies between 18mm-20mm

SCA Martials have advised us that an additional bead of weld should be layed on the inside seams. In addition we have been informed that rivets should be less than 2 inches apart. Some around the back of the 14ga steel are just mms slightly over 2 inches. If adding a weld on the inside then the rivet placements do not matter.

Combat readiness score: 9 of 10

  1. crome dome

good helm good weight although there is a lot of space in top it dose not feel top heavy.

Now I have a large head at 61cm and this helm is too small after padding to 12mm, my nose is against the visor bars.
The side profile of the visor provides lots of room around the mouth but then dips in for the nose.
If you can weld fiddly stuff with a mig or tig it's a hour or to to fix it up.

  2. Brilliant SCA helmet

I give it 4 stars because I needed to pad it out myself. The locking pins for the visor grill were simple to modify with a pair of pliers.
I almost didn't buy it because of another review but when I got mine I was delighted to find that there was a fully penetrated weld along the inside seam of the helmet. Not sure if the design was fixed or another reviewer didn't quite know what a proper weld should look like. Besides I would have thought the described problem should be fixed with a welding rod and not a torch.
Apart from the lack of padding I would say it is perfect. Well done.

  3. Reasonable munitions gear (with some alteration)

To be SCA legal this helm requires a weld on the inside seam and to have the faceplate secured in a better manner (the clasps on the front of the helm open as soon as the faceplate is hit). That being said, if you have a welding torch handy this helm is a great munitions helm for the price. Warning: If you have a normal sized head you may need a lot of padding.
