Product Description

This early Scottish dirk has a hand carved wooden handle, the hardwood handle carving is inspired by a primitive lozenge or chevron design copied from an original of the same time period. For those with a serious interest in the Highlands, this is a must for any collection. This functional dagger comes complete with scabbard.. The dirk is a fighting knife - its immediate forerunner was the Scottish ballock knife which was widely used in the 14th century.

The dirk was a standard issue for British Armed Forces for many years. It was evidently first issued to a member of the Highland Pipers and Drummers. Dirks were not officially abandoned as sidearms in Britain until 1939.

Size: 415mm (overall), 260mm (blade). PRICE INCLUDES a hard sheath/scabbard.
Weight: 465 grams (including scabbard)

This dagger has a serrated edge, MFC do not recommend it for combat without modification.
